A Little About Kay

Kay (they/he) is a second-year graduate student at Boston College, pursuing their Master of Social Work degree with a Certificate in Trauma. After completing their Bachelor’s of Psychology at Simmons University, Kay realized that they valued human connection and helping others too much to continue working in research. Kay’s leadership experience working as a Resident Advisor and with the Violence Prevention and Educational Outreach Program was formative in his passion for trauma-informed care and decision to study social work.

As a queer, trans, and neurodivergent person himself, Kay recognizes the importance of having a clinician who understands and affirms your identity. It’s Kay’s belief that shared identity strengthens trust and minimizes the need to explain how/why it impacts lived experiences. By getting rid of this barrier, it becomes easier to focus on growth and self discovery.

Kay’s passion for authenticity, advocacy, creativity, and hope is central to his therapeutic approach. He recognizes that it takes a lot of courage and vulnerability to be in this space, which is why Kay prioritizes maintaining a safe, non-judgmental space that encourages exploration, mistakes, creativity, joy, and learning. By showing up as their authentic self in every session, they hope to empower you to do the same.

Whether you’re moving through grief, experiencing life transitions, or simply needing someone to listen and support you, Kay aims to be a soft place to land. Through curiosity and challenging beliefs, Kay walks with you through the discomfort of change, empowering you to be your authentic self and asking you to connect with what brings you joy. Kay values using hope and centers a strengths perspective in his approach–particularly, they’re passionate about incorporating your hobbies and interests, as well as a wide range of creative expressions.

In their free time, Kay enjoys spending quality time outdoors with their loved ones, especially when they’re by the water or exploring a new place. Kay also finds joy in seeing live music/theatre, creating art, and practicing the same three songs on his guitar.
